In 2000 after 13 years of introducing the Human Design System,
it was time to focus on international standards for education.
The first step was to respect the needs of the student.
When I returned to Europe in 2000, I began immediately to
work on this edition of the Rave I’Ching with Erik Memmert.
Erik’s programming skills have made the uniform layout/
translation process translator friendly. This English edition
will be followed by German, Italian and Spanish editions. The
Complete Rave I’Ching is just that; a complete reference
work for Human Design students and professionals alike. It
contains all the data one would want, combining both Human
Design and Global Incarnation Index information. Each Gate
is thematically described and the Incarnation Crosses of
each Gate are listed and graphically presented. Each line is
provided in its original form along with additional commentary.
This Complete Rave I’Ching is now the standard text of
the IHDS, the International Human Design Schools. I want to
acknowledge the contribution of many to the fruition of this
project.

The origins of design and human genetics:
One of the keys to human design is the use of the I'Ching,
the ancient chinese book of change,
which was discovered more than 5000 years ago.
Amazingly, this ancient system,
which outlines the cycles and seasons of life,
happens to bear an unusual resemblance to the human DNA profile.
DNA consists of two strands of nucleotides;
One strand is a perfect reflection of the other.
This basic binary is also the basis of the 'Yin' and 'Yang' of the I'Ching.
Our genetic code also consists of four 'bases' arranged in groups of threes.
Each of these chemical groups refers to an amino acid,
and creates what is known as a "codon".
There are 64 such codons in our genetic code.
In the I'Ching there are only four basic permutations of yin and yang,
which are also arranged in groups of threes,
known as "trigrams".
In the same way that the two strands of our DNA mirror each other,
Each trigram of the I'Ching has a partner,
And together these two symbols form the "hexagram";
The base of Hai Ching.
Just like there are 64 codons in DNA,
There are 64 hexagrams in the Bai Ching.
All humans share the same basic genetic code,
And yet each of us is unique.
From the DNA of a single human hair,
A forensic scientist can accurately locate its owner,
Out of billions of people.
Because each person is completely unique,
The way we all make choices is also different.
This is why there can never be one hard and fast rule by which we all live.
What suits one person does not suit another.
We have to live according to our unique and individual nature,
And this is where human design comes in.
